Details of last night’s A9 Newtonmore disruption still to be confirmed
After several hours of disruption the A9 by Newtonmore was finally reopened at 8.40pm last night and has reportedly been running without any holds up since then. Details are still awaited on the multi-vehicle incident which initially closed the road round at 5.30pm and which led Traffic Scotland to avoid motorists travelling either north or south to avoid the area.
Police officers were on duty guiding traffic away from the affected area.
A further hold up followed the clearance of the crash site some two hours after the initial all out, with an HGV having broken down. Both south and northbound lanes were affected. The all-clear only came after 8.30pm.
The Strathy will share the details of the incident and any casualties as soon as they have been confirmed by the emergency services.
