Inquest opens into death of Canterbury boy, 4, in bus crash outside QEQM Hospital in Margate

A four-year-old boy died after "running out into the road" and being struck by a bus, an inquest has heard. Zaahir Jan Feizi, from Canterbury, was involved in a tragic collision outside QEQM Hospital in Margate on August 7.

He was rushed back inside the hospital, but sadly, doctors could not be save. Today, Coroner Ian Potter opened an inquest into his death at Oakwood House in Maidstone.

He said: "At two minutes past four, a collision occurred between a single-decker bus and a child pedestrian. "The Stagecoach bus was conducting a loop passenger service. "The bus was travelling up hill towards the A&E entrance, travelling at 5mph.

"As it passed the entrance, for reasons unknown, a child pedestrian ran into the road and collided with the front nearside."

His cause of death was given as multiple injuries, and the inquest was adjourned to take place at a later date.

The boy's grieving mum, Azaria Green, previously described her heartbreak in a GoFundMe page for funeral expenses.[1] She said: "I wish you were in my bed tonight, cuddling. "I love you, my boy.

"I am so lost.

He was my son, my most beautiful little Jan. "I don't know what to do. I can't believe you are gone from me.

I can't believe they couldn't save you. "I can't believe this happened. I didn't even get to tell you how much I love you."

She added that Zaahir "fell under" the bus and "died instantly". Ramsgate Road outside the hospital was sealed off in both directions for several hours after the crash.

An air ambulance was seen landing nearby as medics battled to save the child's life.

A Stagecoach spokesperson previously said: "We can confirm that one of our buses was involved in a tragic incident within the grounds of Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother Hospital in Margate yesterday. "Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the family and all those affected at this incredibly difficult time.

"We are cooperating fully with the ongoing police investigation and are ensuring that support is in place for our driver."
