LIVE: A57 traffic updates with long queues after crash at busy junction
Drivers are being warned to expect delays at a notorious traffic hotspot following a crash. Officers have been in attendance on the A57 Mottram Moor, in Tameside[1], this morning (August 8). It follows a collision involving a lorry and a car, near to the junction with the A6018 Back Moor, in Mottram.
Long queues have formed following the incident, affecting drivers trying to reach Manchester from Sheffield and the Peak District. The collision took place before 6am, with police have been managing traffic at the scene before the vehicles can be recovered. It's understood traffic heading towards Manchester has been diverted onto the A6018, towards Stalybridge[4]. Police and paramedics were seen in attendance this morning.
GMP says no serious injuries were reported following the incident. The force is warning drivers to expect ongoing delays this morning following the crash, with the incident taking place in an area which is already notorious for congestion. According to the traffic monitoring service Inrix, Mottram Moor has been 'blocked' westbound following the crash, with 'long delays'.

There are also delays tailing back to Woolley Bridge on the A57, affecting drivers heading west from Glossop and Snake Pass.
Traffic is also slow in the opposite direction, on the A57 Hyde[6] Road, for motorists heading towards the Peaks from the M67. Queues have persisted throughout the morning. This is a live event.
