Lorry driver banned after causing injury in Watford crash
Vasile Lazar, of Rant Meadow, Hemel Hempstead, appeared in St Albans Magistrates' Court on Friday (August 8). According to court documents, he had been driving a DAF heavy articulated lorry "without due care or attention" in Tolpits Lane, Watford, on March 24 when he caused serious injury to another man. He was banned from driving for a year after pleading guilty to causing serious injury through careless or inconsiderate driving.
A second charge of driving a motor vehicle dangerously was withdrawn in favour of the first during the court appearance. Herts Police said they attended a crash involving a grey Mercedes C-Class and a white DAF lorry in the road at around 8am that day. A picture appeared to show the result of the crash under the railway bridge by the industrial estate. One man was taken to hospital with what were initially described by police as "minor injuries" and road closures were put in place.
