M40 police seize eleven vehicles in just over six hours
On Wednesday, August 27, Thames Valley Police Roads Policing worked with the DVSA between J1 - 5 of the motorway. Police stated: "On Wednesday we conducted a joint operation on the M40 J1-5 with our Commercial Vehicle Unit and the DVSA to identify and deal with offences on the route that can lead to collisions, injuries and delays on the M40 Motorway. "The operation resulted in eleven vehicle seizures in just over six hours.
"This was for a number of reasons, including 3 drivers without licences and no insurance, and 8 totally uninsured vehicles."
There were five arrests made in total, three for drug driving offences, and two for 'crime offences'.
The force stated that tickets were issued for careless driving, vehicles exceeding their specified weights, insecure loads, driving without seatbelts, tyres with cord exposed (including on HGV), failing to stop at a red traffic light, no MOTs, HGV Drivers' hours infringements.
