M5 lane to remain closed all night after crash sparked major delays
One lane on the M5 is to remain closed both ways overnight tonight (Friday) following a crash. A lorry collided with the central reservation on the motorway between Exeter[1] and Cullompton[2] earlier on Friday, causing severe damage to the barrier.
It sparked miles and hour-plus delays for most of the day, with tailbacks causing chaos in Exeter and other parts of Devon. One driver said they were stuck in traffic for four hours.

Although most traffic has now cleared, National Highways have warned drivers one lane will remain closed until Saturday on both sides of the M5[3].
