M5 traffic live: Crash brings motorway to standstill near Gloucestershire border with huge delays

A crash saw all traffic held on a stretch of the M5 on the Gloucestershire border. The collision happened northbound at junction 14 for Thornbury and Falfield in South Gloucestershire. Traffic cameras showed vehicles at a standstill after the incident, first reported at around 1.27pm today (Friday, August 1).

National Highways is reporting delays of around 40 minutes for traffic heading from Bristol and the West Country towards Gloucestershire. There is also congestion reported heading southbound affecting traffic from Gloucestershire heading towards the West Country. Further delays are reported in Devon where a lorry collided with the central reservation with lane closures in both directions from junction 29 (Exeter) to junction 28 for Cullompton and services.

Other delays are in Somerset heading south.
