M54 closed live as air ambulance called to serious crash involving multiple vehicles
The M54 in Staffordshire is currently closed eastbound near Wolverhampton after a serious collision involving multiple vehicles. A lorry and at least two cars were involved. A woman, a passenger in one of the cars, sustained serious injuries, while the male driver of a car was found to have potentially serious injuries and were both taken to hospital.
A child passenger was also treated for minor injuries and taken to hospital, and the lorry driver was treated for injuries not believed to be serious. The incident occurred between J2 (Wolverhampton) and J1 (Featherstone) shortly before 2pm this afternoon. Diversions are still in place for drivers as Staffordshire Police continue collision investigation work at the scene.
The Midlands Air Ambuance was called to the motorway earlier today.
Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Services and West Midlands Ambulance Service also attended.
National Highways Traffic Officers are also assisting with traffic management.
