M6 southbound lane closure where motorway meets M61
Motorists heading back from a day in the sun are seeing delays on the M6 southbound at Preston. A lane has been closed due to a crash close to Junction 30 for the M61 spur. The crash took place around 6.30pm on Saturday (16 August) and delays are expected until around 9pm.
The congestion is particularly bad around Junction 31 for Samlesbury. There's currently no delays on the northbound side. It follows a day of disruption on Preston's roads, with repairs ongoing to central reservation barriers[1] near Junction 28 on the northbound side near Leyland after a lorry crash shortly after 5am.
And a crash involving a motorbike at Junction 31[2] northbound around 11.30am sent many motorists in search of alternative routes through the city with gridlock on London Road and through Penwortham as a result.
