Major Derbyshire road closed after lorry ‘sheds its load’ near busy bridge

A major Derbyshire route[1] used by lorries and buses[2] has been closed by police after a lorry shed its contents, with traffic sensors showing queuing traffic at the scene. Derbyshire police[3] has confirmed that the A6 is shut in both directions between Ambergate and Whatstandwell[4] following the incident, which took place at around 3.30pm on Monday (August 25).

Throughout the day, traffic monitoring service, Inrix, has reported slow traffic along the A6, which is known to be a popular route for bikers and those travelling from Derby[5] to North Derbyshire and the Peak District[6]. Police have said it is likely that the road will be closed "for some time". Advertisement
