Man almost LOSES licence for breaking 50mph limit on M5
Bashir Mahyub, of Chance Croft, Oldbury, appeared at Worcester Magistrates' Court on Friday (August 8). The 42-year-old pleaded guilty to exceeding the temporary limit while driving a Hyundai between J6 and 4a northbound on November 20 last year. Mahyub was given three penalty points and had to provide mitigating circumstances to magistrates as to why he should not lose his licence.

The court found that if he lost his licence, he would lose his job, it would disrupt the education of children and would affect his wife who suffers with lupus therefore creating exceptional hardship.
Mahyub was instead fined GBP152, ordered to pay GBP90 costs and a GBP61 victim surcharge.
New drivers who get six or more penalty points within two years can lose their licence as can "totters" where someone accrues 12 penalty points or more.
