A man has been flown to hospital with severe injuries after a tractor plunged onto a motorway from a bridge following a collision. Kent Police were alerted to a single-vehicle crash on the A227 overbridge, near Wrotham, just after 11.15am this morning, Monday August 18.
The tractor detached from its trailer and plummeted onto the central reservation between junctions two and three of the M20.[1] Initially, police suspected that two vehicles were involved in the incident. The man is currently in a critical but stable condition in hospital, with his family informed of his situation.
Both Kent Fire and Rescue Service and South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene and remain present, according to the police.
The M20 and the A227 continue to be shut as emergency services manage the situation, with drivers advised to seek alternative routes.

The tractor driver was airlifted to King's College Hospital in London, the service confirmed.

National Highways announced the M20 is likely to remain shut in both directions between junctions one and three into Monday evening for urgent repairs and resurfacing, following damage from a collision and subsequent fuel spillage.
