Motorcyclist killed in crash with van near Alness
A 31-year-old motorcyclist has been killed in a crash with a van on a minor road[1] near Alness. Police have launched an appeal to the public for information[2] following the fatality on the B9176. The crash happened at around 7.20pm last night (Wednesday, August 6) and involved a collision between a yellow Suzuki motorcycle and a white Iveco van.
The motorbike rider was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the van did not require treatment. The road was closed until 2.40am this morning while officers carried out investigations into the accident.
Sergeant Christopher Donaldson said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who had died at this difficult time.
"Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash to contact us. "We'd also ask anyone driving in the area at the time with dash-cam footage to come forward." Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 3167 of Wednesday, 6 August, 2025.
A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 19:26 on Wednesday 6 August to attend a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the B9176 near Achandunie.
"We dispatched one ambulance, an air ambulance, and a GP to the scene."
