National Highways say M6 to ‘remain closed’ as road shut for over 12 hours

National Highways have warned drivers planning to take the M6 northbound in Staffordshire that the road will 'remain closed until late morning'. The busy motorway has now been shut for over twelve hours and counting.

The announcement follows news that a lorry was overturned between Junction 14 and Junction 15 at around 12.30pm last night. Authorities say the HGV slammed into the central reservation, before spilling diesel across the road.

Now drivers have been urged to allow 'extra time' for any planned journeys.
