Pensioner airlifted to hospital after 4-vehicle crash on Redhill road

Seven people are in hospital after a multi-vehicle pile up on a major Redhill[1] road. Officers were called to the A23 Horley[2] Road on Saturday (August 9) at around 8:30am following a collision[3] between the drivers of three cars and a lorry. A passenger in one of the cars, a woman in her 80s, was airlifted to hospital with life threatening injuries.

Six other people were also taken to hospital. A 25-year-old man from East Grinstead was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by careless driving. The incident left the road closed[4] for most of the day at the junction with Earlswood Road and Common Road and the A23 junction with Three Arch Road by East Surrey Hospital.

Officers from Surrey Police[5] are looking to speak to anyone who might have witnessed this collision, or anyone with CCTV, dash-cam or helmet-cam footage that may have captured all or part of this incident.
