PICTURES: Lorry overturns and ‘rips porch’ off village pub in morning crash

A DOOR canopy was 'ripped off' a pub this morning when a lorry overturned on a village's main road and crashed into the building.

Emergency services were called to the incident on the A354 in Coombe Bissett, four miles from Salisbury, shortly after 7am on Thursday.

Medics were pictured at the scene but nobody was taken to hospital. A large amount of grain spilled out of the lorry and onto the pub's land. Advertisement

The road remains closed while police and recovery vehicles are at the scene of the stricken lorry.

The Fox & Goose pub was damaged in the collision[1].

It will remain closed at lunchtime but its licensees hope to welcome punters this evening.

Keith Smith, who runs the pub with his wife Sue, said: "The front door porch has been ripped off. One of the windows has smashed.

"The posts and hanging baskets are gone. Until they open the road, I can't see what's happening, and I can't get staff in."

Earlier today, the pub posted on Facebook: "Unfortunately we are going to be closed for lunchtime today.

"The road is closed.

We will keep you all updated as to when we are able to open - hopefully, for evening service!"
