Delays on the A500 near Talke

Two ambulances were sent to a six-vehicle pile-up on the M6 - which brought the motorway and A500[1] to a halt. But paramedics say it was just a man and a woman who were assessed for 'minor injuries' following the North Staffordshire collision.

The smash occurred on the southbound carriageway between Junction 16 and 15. As reported by StokeonTrentLive[2] queues spiralled back to Junction 17 while a broken down truck just further north brought even more gridlock.

The crash also triggered delays on the northbound side due to 'onlookers'. It also brought congestion to the A500 where queues went back from Junction 16 of the motorway to Talke.[3]

This all happened at a time where there was also a smash on the westbound A50[4] carriageway near Heron Cross - which sent a queue back to Meir.

Now West Midlands Ambulance Service[5] has confirmed it was sent to the motorway just after 11.10am.

A spokeswoman said: "We were called to reports of a six-vehicle road traffic collision on the M6 between Junction 15 and 16 southbound in Staffordshire and sent two ambulances to the scene.

On arrival crews found two patients, a man and a woman, who they assessed for minor injuries before they were both discharged at the scene with self-care advice.

There were no other patients at the scene."
