Van and lorry crash by Junction 28 causes hour long congestion on M4

Emergency services were called at around 2.35pm on Friday, 22 August, to reports of a collision involving a van and a lorry travelling eastbound at junction 28. Gwent Police attended the scene alongside the Welsh Ambulance Service and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing. Investigations into the circumstances of the collision are ongoing. Massive hour-long delays have been reported as a result.

The AA Road Map reads there are "severe delays of 41 minutes and delays increasing on M4 Eastbound between J32 A470 Northern Avenue (Coryton Interchange) and J27 B4591 Glasllwch Crescent (Highcross). "Average speed five mph." Traffic continues to be congested.
