Van driver suffers ‘serious injuries’ after being freed from pile-up wreck
Police, paramedics and two fire engines were sent to the collision

A motorist was freed from his vehicle by firefighters after a crash between a car, truck and van. Two fire engines, police and paramedics were sent to the scene on Knutsford Road in Cranage.
Today Cheshire Police has confirmed the van driver, who was freed by fire crews, suffered 'serious injuries'. The alarm had been raised just after 11.55am on Sunday.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service sent crews from Congleton and Knutsford to the scene.
A spokesperson for the service said: "Fire crews were called to a road traffic collision involving a heavy goods vehicle, a van and a car.
" Firefighters removed the van's door using hydraulic cutting tools to rescue the driver, who was then taken to hospital by ambulance.
The drivers of the heavy goods vehicle and the car received precautionary checks at the scene by North West Ambulance Service."
A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called to reports of a collision on A50 Knutsford Road, Cranage.
The collision involved three vehicles, a Skoda Kamiq, a Citroen Van and a HGV.
