Woman fined for driving at 57mph on motorway

Clare Springer was behind the wheel of a Citroen on the M27 westbound when she was clocked by an automatic camera device. The 54-year-old was driving at 57mph between junction 10 and nine near Fareham[1]. At the time of the incident on April 3, 2024, a 50mph speed restriction was in force on the motorway.

READ MORE: Teen drink driver caught on e-scooter handed ban - In the Dock[2] Springer, of Warsash Road, Warsash, denied a charge of exceeding a variable speed limit, but she was found guilty of the offence in her absence at Southampton Magistrates' Court on August 13. She was ordered to pay a fine of GBP220 and she was given three points on her licence.

Springer was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of GBP400 and a GBP88 surcharge, a total of GBP708 to pay.

This must be paid in full by September 12.
