A4 Marlborough crash: Air ambulance rushes woman to hospital

The incident occurred around 3.15pm on Wednesday, September 10, on the A4 Bath Road near Fyfield, west of the town. The fire service has said three vehicles were involved in the incident, two cars and a flatbed lorry. The ambulance service has now said it sent several vehicles to the scene, including a land ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, as well as an air ambulance.

A spokesperson confirmed the air ambulance rushed one patient to Southmead hospital. A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: "We were called at 15:13hrs on Wednesday 10 September to a road traffic collision near Marlborough. "We sent one double-crewed land ambulance, an air ambulance, a tactical commander and a rapid response vehicle to the scene.

We conveyed one patient by air ambulance to Southmead Hospital." Suggested reading: A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: "At around 3.10pm yesterday we responded to a three vehicle collision on the A4 at Fyfield.

"One of the drivers was taken to hospital with injuries which are not thought to be life-changing." Police also confirmed the driver taken to hospital was a woman. On Wednesday, a spokesperson for the fire and rescue service said firefighters had to cut one person who had been trapped in a vehicle

The spokesperson said: "We were called at 3:12pm today with reports of a road traffic collision on the A4 Bath Road, Clatford. "Two fire appliances were mobilised, from Marlborough and Pewsey and on arrival found two cars and one flatbed lorry involved. "Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to release one person trapped in one of the cars and has been left in the care of the ambulance service.

"The stop came in at 4:49pm and the road is still closed in both directions."
