A414 crash man confirmed dead after car “struck tree”
Essex Police were on the scene of the crash between Chelmsford and Ongar throughout this morning after being called to the incident at approximately 3.30am today, where the car reportedly left the road, the man is understood to have died at the scene. The man's family are being supported by specialist officers, no other vehicles are understood to have been involved in the crash. The major link road has been closed this morning while police investigated the scene but has now reopened.
A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "A man has died following a collision on the A414 between Chelmsford and Ongar. "We were called shortly before 3.30am today (Friday 5 September) with a report of a car which had left the road and struck a tree. "Sadly, a man in his 20s died at the scene and specialist officers are now supporting his family.
"We do not believe any other vehicles were involved. "The road was closed while we investigated and recovered the vehicle but has now re-opened. "We would ask people not to speculate about the circumstances of the collision.
