A9 crash closed Inverness to Perth route near Aviemore for seven hours in both directions through the night

The A9 has fully reopened near Aviemore following a crash between a car and a van that closed the Inverness-Perth route[1] for close to seven hours. Emergency services were alerted sometime before 8.30 pm last night (Monday) after the accident between the Lynwilg and Granish junctions near to the Macdonald Aviemore Resort. It is not yet known if there were any casualties.

Police Scotland and the ambulance service have been contacted for more detail. A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "We got the call at 8:34 pm and three appliances and a heavy rescue unit were sent to the scene of an accident between two vehicles, a car and a van.

"We assisted before leaving the scene at 21:51 hours."

Traffic Scotland reported at 3.25 am[3] that the road had fully reopened.
