‘Absolute hero’ lorry driver saves man dangling over M1 bridge using his truck

A lorry driver has been hailed an "absolute hero" for positioning his truck under a motorway bridge and climbing onto the roof to save a man's life.

Yorkshire[1] truck driver Dan Shillito was heading south down the M1 when he saw information boards about an incident in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He then saw "a leg dangling over the bridge." Dan, 34, of Hull, East Yorkshire[2], asked a police officer if he could position his truck under the bridge to help save the man's life. He then climbed onto the truck's roof and held the man until help arrived.
