Death by dangerous charge after biker killed in Hams Hall crash

A man has appeared in court charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a biker was killed in a crash near Birmingham.

It happened on the A446 near Hams Hall, north of Coleshill[1] and east of Sutton Coldfield[2], shortly after 1.30pm on Friday, September 5.

The victim, a man in his 70s, died at the scene[3].

Warwickshire[4] Police said the man's family has been informed and were being supported.

Dimitar Kalchev, 48, of no fixed abode, appeared before magistrates on Saturday, September 6, and was remanded to next appear at Warwick Crown Court on Thursday, October 9.

Warwickshire Police said: "We're appealing for witnesses or dashcam footage following a collision near Hams Hall. Emergency services were called to a collision between a lorry and a motorbike on the A446 at around 1.40pm.

"Sadly the motorcyclist - a man in his 70s - died at the scene. His next of kin has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers.

"Road closures were in place while emergency services were in attendance.

A 48-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incident.

"If anyone witnessed the collision or has any dashcam footage and has not yet spoken to officers, please call 101 quoting incident number 179 of September 5, 2025."
