‘Devastated’ family’s tribute to Birmingham biker killed in Hams Hall crash

The 'devastated' family of a motorbiker from Birmingham killed in a lorry crash have paid tribute to him.
John Carter died when his motorbike collided with the truck on the A446 in Hams Hall, between Coleshill and the city, at around 1.40pm on Friday, September 5.
Nothing could be done to save the 71-year-old.

Mr Carter's family said: "We have been left devastated by this tragic loss.
John will be missed by his family, friends and everyone who knew him.
"We would like to thank the police for their ongoing support in these difficult times.
Rest in peace."
Warwickshire Police said a 48-year-old man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Dimitar Kalchev, 48, of no fixed address, appeared before magistrates on Saturday, September 6, and was remanded to next appear at Warwick Crown Court on Thursday, October 9.
A spokesperson for the force said: "John Carter, 71, from Birmingham[5], sadly died following a collision between a lorry and a motorbike on the A446 at around 1.40pm on September 5.

"If anyone witnessed the collision or has any dashcam footage and has not yet spoken to officers, please call 101 quoting incident number 179 of 5 September 2025."
