Dramatic crash leaves lorry overturned in field as emergency crews descend

A lorry ended up on its side in a field following a crash in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters from Bentham and Hornby Fire Stations near Lancaster[1] were called to the scene of the incident on the A65 in Ingleton, just over the Lancashire[2] border. Crews arrived shortly after 4am today (September 19) to find the articulated HGV on its side in a field.

Bentham Fire Station posted a picture of the aftermath of the crash on social media and said: "Thankfully the driver was out safe and well. Advertisement

"The crew carried out first aid to check them over until the arrival of Yorkshire[3] Ambulance Service NHS[4] Trust. Incident and vehicle left in the hands of North Yorkshire Police."

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews from Bentham and Hornby responded to a single vehicle RTC involving a HGV towing a trailer.

On arrival, the driver was out of the vehicle. Fire crew made the scene safe."

Firefighters at Bentham were left fuming upon their return to the station after finding someone 'allowed their dog to defecate in the station yard and not bothered to clean it up'. Advertisement

They said: "On return to station, the crew spent 20 minutes washing the wheels of the pump and the station floor. Unfortunately someone has allowed their dog to defecate in the station yard and not bothered to clean it up.

"My team do not want to be clearing up dog muck at the best of times, but certainly not at 6am in the morning!

Please be more mindful of your dogs mess."
