Firefighters cut one person free from vehicle after M11 crash
Firefighters had to remove one person from a vehicle after a crash on the M11[1]. Emergency services are at the scene of a crash[2] on the M11[3] southbound between junction 13 of the A1303 at Madingley Road (Madingley/Cambridge[4]) to junction 12 Grantchester Road (Cambridge) this morning (Thursday, September 18). The crash involved four vehicles. Cambridgeshire[5] Fire and Rescue were called to the scene and had to remove one casualty from a vehicle.
They have been left in the care of ambulance crews. A fire spokesperson said: "We were called at 6.59am to a road traffic collision on the M11 Southbound between junctions 12 and 13. Crews from Cambridge and Sawston attended.
"Firefighters arrived to find a collision involving 4 vehicles. Crews used specialist equipment to release one casualty from their vehicle and left them in the care of ambulance service colleagues." The M11 between junction 12 and 13 is currently closed and traffic is building up along the road.
Traffic monitoring site Inrix said: "M11 Southbound closed, long delays due to accident, 3 cars and a van involved from J13 A1303 Madingley Road (Madingley/Cambridge) to J12 Grantchester Road (Cambridge). Congestion to A14[6] J24 (Boxworth)." Cambridgeshire Police and the East of England Ambulance Service have been contacted for more information.
