Injured driver trapped in van freed after A602 collision
Herts police, the East of England Ambulance Service and Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service were called just after 7.30am this morning to reports of a crash on the A602 near Hooks Cross, Watton at Stone. No passengers on the bus were seriously injured, but the van driver's injuries left him trapped in the vehicle. He was freed by firefighters and rushed to hospital for further treatment.
"Fortunately, the passengers on the bus were not seriously hurt although they were obviously shaken by the experience, and the ambulance service carried out precautionary first aid checks on all occupants," said Darren Cook, assistant chief fire officer.
"The driver of the van was trapped by his injuries and our crews worked with the ambulance service to safely extricate him so he could be transferred to hospital for further treatment."
