Leicestershire live updates as ‘accident’ leads to M1 being ‘partially blocked’

A truck break down led to the M1 Northbound in Leicestershire[1] being "partially blocked" this afternoon. The incident took place between junction 22, near Coalville[2] and junction 23, near Loughborough[3]. Leicestershire Police[4] said it received a report at 11.47am today (Thursday, September 18) that a truck had broken down on the M1.

Officers said despite the truck being on the hard shoulder, it was blocking part of lane one on the motorway. Queueing traffic[5] had been reported in the area by traffic monitoring service Inrix. Police confirmed that the Highway Agency also attended the scene.

According to Inrix, the obstruction was cleared off the motorway by 12.50pm. Traffic in the area then returned to normal[6] at approximately 1.15pm. We reported on this incident live.
