LIVE: A66 closed after collision involving police vehicle at roundabout

A section of the A66 has been closed following a lunch-time collision. Cleveland Police issued a statement at 12.44pm stating: "The A66 Westbound is closed at Middlesbrough Road Roundabout due to a collision. "We are asking drivers to avoid the area and seek an alternative route.

Thank you for your patience." Pictures from the scene show a heavily damaged police van, whilst another van has left the road in the middle of the throughabout. Cleveland Fire Brigade and an ambulance are also at the scene.

The AA Traffic service states: "A66 in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to accident from A171 Cargo Fleet Lane (Cargo Fleet Interchange) to B1513 Old Station Road."
