M25 updates as traffic completely stops after crash between lorry and car near Reigate

Traffic has completely stopped on the M25[1], with traffic[2] queueing for seven miles, following a crash. The incident took place this morning (September 23) just after 7am. The incident is reported to have occurred near junction 8, Reigate[3], heading onto the A217 Brighton Road.

Delays have been reported as far back as Leatherhead. It is not yet clear if emergency services are on the scene. It has been reported by National Highways that the crash took place between a car and lorry.

Traffic monitoring service, Inrix, reports: "Three lanes closed and queueing traffic for two miles due to accident on M25 anticlockwise from J9 A243 (Leatherhead) to J8 A217 Brighton Road (Reigate). Only lane four is open, four miles after J9." This is a developing story.
