M4 crash live updates as overturned vehicle causes motorway delays for drivers

There were several delays on the M4 this morning as wet weather caused problems for drivers. The M4 eastbound was closed for around three hours due to an overturned lorry near Bridgend, and emergency repairs caused delays and lane closures on the M4 Prince of Wales bridge eastbound. There are also earlier delays on the Prince of Wales bridge from Junction 23 M48 to Junction 22 M49 due to flooding and a broken down vehicle before National Highways officers saw to an "infrastructure defect".

On the incident in Bridgend, a spokesperson from South Wales Police said: "South Wales Police was called at 7:30am this morning (Friday September 12) to a collision between a car and a lorry on the M4 Westbound between junctions 35-36 (Sarn-Pencoed) "As a result of the collision the lorry has overturned. The road was closed in both directions, however westbound is now open in lanes 1&2."
