M4 Swindon: Major crash involving ‘lorry and caravan’
The incident is reported to have happened at around 2pm, according to the AA Travel News's interactive traffic map, between junctions 16 and 17. A post on the map notifying motorists of the incident reads: "One lane closed and queueing traffic due to crash, a lorry and a caravan involved and debris on road on M4 Westbound from J16 A3102 Swindon Road (Swindon West) to J17 A350 (Chippenham)." National Highways, who manage the M4, have also issued an update, stating that one lane had to close due to a "collision" on the carriageway.

A notice attached to the westbound side of the traffic reads: "Severe delays of 39 minutes and delays increasing on M4 Westbound between J16 A3102 Swindon Road (Swindon West) and J17 A350 (Chippenham). Average speed five mph." The eastbound notice shows a slightly brighter forecast for motorists, with delays of 10 minutes and an average speed of 15mph.
A post reads: "Severe delays of ten minutes and delays increasing on M4 Eastbound between J17 A350 (Chippenham) and J16 A3102 Swindon Road (Swindon West).
Average speed 15 mph."
