M61 early morning Tuesday disruption due to crash between lorry and car
Commuters heading towards Manchester and Bolton from Preston have been stuck in long delays Motorists heading out of Preston towards Bolton and Manchester saw early morning delays on the M61. Delays of more than half-an-hour were reported on the M61[1] between Junction 9 where it meets the M65 and Junction 8 for Chorley.
Lancashire Police confirmed a crash between a lorry and a car had caused the disruption. Motorists also reported seeing a Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service presence at the scene - due to reports of a fuel spillage. The crash took place around 7.20am on Tuesday (23 September). Police said it was a 'damage-only' collision. All delays have now cleared on the Chorley stretch of the M61. Further southbound on the M61 and there have been severe delays between Junction 4 and Junction 3 where two lanes remain closed due to a crash.
