Malton man dies after A168 crash near Dishforth Airfield
The man, from Malton, was pronounced dead at the scene on the A168 near Dishforth Airfield on Friday morning (September 19), North Yorkshire Police said. He was driving a red Fiat 500 which was involved in the crash at around 7.15am. Police said the Fiat and a John Deere tractor were travelling south towards Boroughbridge and the tanker was travelling north in the direction of Thirsk.
Latest News The driver of the tanker suffered minor injuries and the tractor's driver was uninjured.
"Sadly, the driver of the Fiat, a 70-year-old man from Malton, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed," a police spokesperson said. "The HGV driver, a 45-year-old man from Stockton suffered minor injuries, and the tractor driver, a 57-year-old man, was uninjured."
Police said the road is likely to remain closed until 6pm on Friday so the crash site can be investigated and cleared. The police spokesperson added that Yorkshire Ambulance Service "have also asked us to pass on their thanks to members of the public who assisted them at the scene".
