Man, 61, charged following fatal crash near Sherborne

61-year-old Geoffrey Alan Broughton-White of Stibbington in Peterborough has been charged and is due to appear in court in relation to causing death by careless and/or inconsiderate driving at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday September 25. It was stated that police received a report at around 4:08pm on Tuesday February 20, 2024, that a collision had occurred between a car and a lorry. The incident took place on the A30 at Babylon Hill, near to the junction with Marl Lane, and it involved a blue Mini Cooper and a blue Volvo articulated lorry.

Following the crash, the driver of the mini, a man aged in his 20s, was airlifted to a hospital in Bristol after sustaining 'serious' injuries. Unfortunately the man died in hospital the next day. A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "Emergency services attended and the driver of the Mini, a Yeovil man aged in his 20s, was taken by air ambulance to Southmead Hospital in Bristol having sustained serious injuries.

"Very sadly, he died in hospital on the evening of Wednesday 21 February 2024.

His family were informed and are being supported by specially trained officers."
