Man dies in collision with tractor and milk tanker

A man has died in a collision between a tractor, a milk tanker and a car on a dual carriageway in North Yorkshire.

Police were called to the crash, which involved a red Fiat 500, a John Deere tractor and a white HGV milk tanker, on the A168 near Dishforth Airfield at about 07:15 BST on Friday.

The driver of the Fiat, a 70-year-old man from Malton, was pronounced dead at the scene, a spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said.

Officers said the road would remain closed until about 18:00 on Friday for investigation work to take place and they asked anyone who witnessed the collision to get in touch.

Police said the car and tractor were travelling south towards Boroughbridge at the time of the collision and the lorry was travelling in the opposite direction, towards Thirsk.

The HGV driver, a 45-year-old man from Stockton, suffered minor injuries.

The tractor driver, a 57-year-old man, was not hurt, the spokesperson added.
