Man dies in three-vehicle crash on A168 near Disforth Airfield

It happened on the A168 near Dishforth Airfield, just off the A1(M) around 7.15am on Friday (September 19). A red Fiat 500 car, a John Deere tractor, and a white HGV milk tanker were involved. The driver of the Fiat, a 70-year-old man from Malton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

North Yorkshire Police said the the Fiat and tractor were travelling south towards Boroughbridge, and the HGV was travelling in the opposite direction towards Thirsk at the time. A168 near Dishforth Airfield(Image: GOOGLE) The man's family has been informed.

The HGV driver, a 45-year-old man from Stockton, suffered injuries, and the tractor driver, a 57-year-old man, walked away uninjured. The road remains closed at the time of publication to allow for investigation work and recovery to take place but police said they hope to reopen it by 6pm on Friday. Any witnesses are urged to contact police.
