Motorcyclist dies in A446 crash with lorry near Birmingham
A motorbike rider has died after a crash involving a lorry on a busy A-road on the outskirts of Birmingham[1]. The rider was involved in a collision on the A446 near Hams Hall, north of Coleshill[2] and east of Sutton Coldfield[3] shortly after 1.30pm on Friday (September 5). Sadly the motorcyclist, a man in his 70s, died at the scene.
Road closures were in place following the crash as collision investigators got to work Warwickshire[5] Police said the man's family has been informed and are being supported. A 48-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incident but police officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.
Get the latest BirminghamLive news direct to your inbox[6] In a statement a spokesperson for the force said: "We're appealing for witnesses or dashcam footage following a collision near Hams Hall yesterday (Friday, September 5). "Emergency services were called to a collision between a lorry and a motorbike on the A446 at around 1.40pm.
"Sadly the motorcyclist - a man in his 70s - died at the scene. "His next of kin has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers. "Road closures were in place while emergency services were in attendance.
"A 48-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incident.
"If anyone witnessed the collision or has any dashcam footage and has not yet spoken to officers, please call 101 quoting incident number 179 of 5 September 2025."
