Motorist caught by automatic camera over 50mph on motorway is fined

Gemma Royall, of Colne Drive, Berinsfield, was caught speeding by an automatic camera on the M25 between junctions nine and 10 in Surrey, a court heard. Royall, 38, was driving a Vauxhall at the time of the incident on November 2 last year. She pleaded guilty at Guildford Magistrates' Court and Family Court and was sentenced on Friday, September 19.

READ MORE: M4 speed camera: woman fined GBP300 for driving at 59mph[1] According to the court record, Royall was exceeding the 50mph speed limit at the time but it didn't specify the speed she was driving. She was ordered to pay a fine of GBP70 and a victim surcharge of GBP28.

This must be paid by Friday, October 17.

There were no orders for costs as the court record stated she made every reasonable effort to avoid the case coming to court.

She also received three penalty points.
