‘Much-loved’ charity worker died saving others
Tim Minett was transporting blood donations for a charity when he died in a crash with a van in Pembrokeshire

Friends and colleagues of a "much-loved and devoted" husband, stepfather, grandfather, brother, and uncle who died in a crash while saving the lives of others are invited to pay tribute to him at a special event held in his honour.
On the evening of July 2 Tim Minett was riding a Blood Bikes Wales motorcycle in Pembrokeshire. Blood Bikes Wales is a charity that supports the NHS by transporting blood donations across the country. At around 6.20pm Mr Minett was involved in a crash with a Volkswagen van on the A478 near Crymych while volunteering as a blood courier.
He died at the scene.
He was 78.
Following his death a spokesman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: "The family of a much-loved 78-year-old man who tragically died in a road traffic collision on the A478 are deeply saddened by the sudden loss of a devoted husband, stepfather, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend."

A spokesman for the charity said: "On the evening of July 2 Blood Bikes Wales suffered a heartbreaking loss. Our friend and volunteer rider Tim Minett tragically lost his life in a collision while carrying out his duties for the charity.
"Tim was a much-loved husband to Jane, a valued member of our Blood Bikes Wales family, and a true friend to many.
In line with Jane's wishes we will be holding a memorial ride in Tim's honour."
The memorial ride will take place on Sunday, October 19, starting from Haverfordwest Airport.
Anyone is welcome to take part with a meeting time of 10am.
The ride will see bikes travel from the airport to Crug Glas Country House, via a route to be confirmed, where people are invited to gather to remember Mr Minett.
A spokeswan for Blood Bikes Wales added: "We warmly invite all who knew Tim, or who wish to show their respect for a much-loved volunteer and friend, to join us."

Article continues belowAn inquest into Mr Minett's death[3] was opened in County Hall, Haverfordwest, on July 14.
Following the crash, Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed that a 56-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
