A woman has shared how she has been stuck on the M4 for seven hours with her two month old baby. Police closed the M4 between two junctions following a serious crash involving an overturned lorry in the westbound direction. Officers alerted of the crash at around 5am on Thursday morning.

They said junction 37 (Pyle) and junction 38 (Margam) will be closed in both directions for some time to allow emergency services access to the road.

It appears to be an Amazon prime branded vehicle which has been involved in the crash.

Chaos continues in the area, with congestion felt to junction 36 (Bridgend[1] / Sarn service area) and routes through Pyle as traffic diverts.

The mum, who wishes to remain anonymous, joined the M4 to get to Pyle, and has been stuck since around 9am.

She said: "I'm stuck in the traffic with my two-month-old and have been since 9.40am.

"I joined the M4[3] at Sarn to go to Pyle. It is coming up to four hours stuck on the M4.

"This journey takes around 15 minutes normally.

"The delay is not 70 minutes.

"There are no signs at Sarn stating that the M4 is closed."

A spokesperson for South Wales Police[4] said: "We're at the scene of a serious collision on the M4 westbound just prior to junction 38.

"The road is currently closed from junction 37 onwards and from junction 38 eastbound so that emergency services can access the incident.

"It is expected to remain closed for some time; please avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. We're grateful for your patience."

Traffic monitoring service Inrix states: "M4 westbound closed, with queueing traffic, due to an overturned lorry and accident from J38 A48 (Margam) to J37 A4229 (Pyle / Porthcawl[5]).
