‘My son died in terror after his drug-fuelled dad collapsed at wheel

A devoted mother's world was shattered when her teenage son was killed in a crash on the M6[1] by his father, just as she was nearing the end of a long custody battle to bring him home.

Ryan-Liam Morgan, 14, died on April 20 when his father, Daniel Burba, lost control of a van near Lancaster[2] and crashed while high on cocaine and suffering an epileptic fit. Moments before the fatal collision, Ryan-Liam desperately tried to grab the steering wheel in an effort to save their lives and a court[3] heard how the youngster died "in terror". Advertisement

Burba, 32, had no driving licence or insurance and blood tests revealed that the defendant was four times above the legal drug-drive limit. CCTV footage captured the moment Burba[4] walked into a petrol station moments before causing his son's death by dangerous driving.
