Notorious Warwickshire speed camera revealed as almost 50,000 drivers caught
Warwickshire's most notorious speed camera that caught almost 50,000 drivers has been revealed. Warwickshire Police was asked to identify the single speed camera site that snared the most speeding drivers in 2024.
[1] This was in a Freedom of Information Act request to the force. It also asked how many offences it detected as well as the total value of fixed penalties paid that are attributable to that camera in 2024, and the number of points endorsed.
In a response online, the force revealed that that the fixed camera on the M6[2] motorway junction 3A to Corley Southbound caught the most speeding drivers. It also explained that all of the revenue is collected by the Fixed Penalty Officer at the HM Courts & Tribunals Service.
A previous FOI request revealed the top five speed camera locations for Notices of Intended Prosecutions (NIPs) issued in 2024.
These were the M6 J3a southbound Corley, M6-M42 southbound link, the M6 J3-2 southbound Ansty, M6 J2-3 northbound Ansty and the M6 J3a northbound at Corley.
Also, from January 1, 2024 to December, 31 2024, the total number of motorists caught and issued with a NIP in 2024 was 189,517.[5]
