The overturned lorry on Sideway roundabout

Police are appealing for witnesses after a lorry overturned on one of Stoke-on-Trent's busiest roundabouts. The lorry was on its side on Sideway roundabout from 9am yesterday.

It caused traffic chaos on the A50 and the A500 for a number of hours.

A Staffordshire Police[1] spokesman said: "We were called to reports of a vehicle on its side. A white HGV was involved.

Officers attended along with colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service[2] and West Midlands Ambulance Service. The road was closed while emergency services attended the scene. The driver was checked over by paramedics as a precaution.

The vehicle was recovered from the scene.

Our inquiries are continuing."

Any witnesses can call the police on 101, quoting incident number 169 of 14 September.
