Person dies after being hit by train at South London train station
A person has died after being hit by a train in South London last night (September 7). Police and paramedics attended Sutton station at 10.20pm amid reports of a casualty on the tracks. One person was pronounced dead at the scene soon after.
Their death is not being treated as suspicious, the British Transport Police (BTP) has confirmed. A file will now be prepared for the coroner, the force added. Thameslink[1] and South Western Railways halted services between Sutton and Mitcham Eastfields immediately. Several emergency vehicles were seen outside the station as work to recover the person took place.
The news comes just days after a person was struck and killed at Edgware station[2] in North West London.
