Suffolk speeding offences hit six-month high with over 6,100 caught

The figure of 6,183 offences is a significant rise from June's total of 5,177, with Ipswich and Barton Mills accounting for nearly 15% of all offences. There were 572 offences clocked in Ipswich, the most of any area. The second worst speeding hotspot was the A11 at Barton Mills, where 509 drivers were caught.

Several smaller villages also saw high numbers of offences. Creeting St Mary, recorded 96 speeding drivers, while Rougham saw 98. Speed camera vans are regularly deployed across the county, including in residential zones and on fast-moving A roads, where they use video-based speed monitoring technology.

The number of fixed camera offences in July[1] was 2,187, meaning that the combined total of offenders was 8,370. Other areas where high numbers of drivers were clocked include: Bungay 366
