Devon's top roads where drivers have been caught speeding have been revealed.
Devon and Cornwall Police issued more than 14,000 Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) for speeding in just one year, according to new data - while the force also handed out 215,047 NIPs (Notices of Intended Prosecution).
A total of 14,240 drivers were sent FPNs for speeding between April 2024 and March this year - and roads in Devon accounted for 14 of the 20 "worst" in the region when it comes to speeding, according to data gathered by Legal Expert[1].
The fixed penalty for speeding is GBP100. Speeding drivers get three points added to their license as a minimum.
Reaching 12 points within three years will disqualify them from driving.
Ashburton Road, the section of the A385 on the outskirts of Totnes[2], was the region's speeding hotspot.
A total of 11,839 offences were recorded in a year, which works out at around 32 per day. However, only 319 offences (3%) led to an FPN being issued.
Old Laira Road in Plymouth[3] was also the site of more than 10,000 offences, while the A376 Exeter[4] Road in Exmouth[5] was fourth on the list.
Offences on Clovelly Road in Bideford[6] led to the most FPNs of any Devon road (342), while the largest percentage of offences leading to fines came from the A30 Fingle Glen at Tedburn St Mary (8%).

The force also revealed the five worst speeding offenders in the region. One of the speeding incidents was in Devon, where one driver was seen going 139mph on the A38 Smithaleigh in in August last year - more than double the 60mph speed limit.
The other four 'worst' offences were all on Roseworthy Dip in Cornwall.
