Two people die after car and van crash on A9

Two people have died following a crash between a car and a van on the A9 near Slochd, south of Inverness.

The 45-year-old woman and 43-year-old man were in a white Ford Fiesta car involved in the collision with a white Vauxhall Vivaro.

They died at the scene.

Emergency services were called to the crash at about 07:10 and the road was closed for more than seven hours to allow for a police investigation.

Two men in the van were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness for treatment before being later discharged.
